Florida is a perennial favorite for many folks – it is, after all, a great escape from January’s cold! While I have never been the biggest fan, at times it is quite tempting! It is a large state and some areas are intense and frenetic. There are parts of the state, however, that do provide a relaxed, slow-paced experience; just make sure you choose your destination carefully. I would suggest taking a look at Florida’s Gulf Coast. The Panhandle has a number of sites you may be interested in.
This part of the state is bordered by Alabama, Georgia and the gulf of Mexico. Along Rt 30A you’ll discover small beach towns with family friendly vibes, white sand beaches and turquoise water. These bike-friendly towns have delicious seafood which you can purchase and enjoy anywhere from local farmers markets to upscale restaurants. Here are two towns to check out:
Seaside – Looking for a walkable beach? This unique town is located about an hour from Panama City Beach. It is diverse, friendly and different from many beach towns. Homes here are required to be unique and cannot look like other buildings. Consequently, strolling will provide a singular experience. Everything you see is distinct and you will not see the same building more than once. If you are looking for relaxation in a charming beach town this is the place for you!
Panama City Beach – This is an unapologetic tourist-friendly town. Its 27 miles of white sand beaches and emerald water are located in NW Florida along the Gulf of Mexico. Its vibe is laid-back, warm, and neighborly. There is a lot to do and experience here and if you are a diver you will find a large number of wrecks to explore. Take a dolphin watching tour, charter a fishing boat or just relax to the beach and let your worries float away.
You might also consider a trip to Tampa or Sarasota. Any Panhandle location offers some of the best sunsets you have ever seen! Enjoy!
Hello. Good luck 🙂
