The Dominican Republic is known for beautiful beaches and all-inclusive resorts. As one of the most visited islands in the Caribbean, it is well worth a good look!! Do you love sunshine and a Caribbean vibe? If so, start planning! Let’s take a peek!
Consider when to go. The dry season is from November to May but don’t be scared off by the rainy season. The rain is usually a quick storm that passes quickly and cools things off! It also has smaller crowds as well as better rates and availability. If you want a bit of pampering with amenities galore, check out one of those all-inclusive resorts. You will not be disappointed!
The official currency is the Dominican Peso but US dollars are generally accepted in tourist areas. You can use credit cards in the larger shops as well as in hotels. You will fly into Punta Cana International Airport. Many of the larger hotels and resorts can arrange to have you picked up there. Staying at a resort? If so, don’t worry about car rentals as they usually have shuttles and private car transfers available. This country is all about relaxation (with a bit of exploration thrown in). If you are looking for a bit of both, a 5-7 day visit is recommended.
You will love the diverse offerings of this island! Do you want nature and adventure? At Hongo Magico you can go canyoning and Pico Duarte, the highest peak in the Caribbean, offers rafting and hiking. Ziplining, horseback riding and snorkeling are also available. Go whale watching in Samana Bay or take a bike tour. Afterwards go relax beside the pool-drink in hand! Foodies will love this country -tropical ingredients and flavors abound! If you fall in love with the cuisine you can take one of the available cooking classes.
You’re going to love this place!
