Today Arnold and I had planned a tour of the Andes. Yep, you bet we were excited! We went down to the lobby this morning only to find out that the excursion had been cancelled! It rained heavily here last evening in Santiago and washed out the roads leading into the Andes. As much as we wanted to see these mountains, we agreed another time might be a bit better…;-)
We did find another tour to book in its place. Although it did not seem exciting in the same way, we ended up quite interested! It was a tour of the city and was quite thorough! Arnold and I visited Santiago over 25 years ago and this tour gave us a peek into its many changes. The city was larger and more crowded than we remembered. It was, however, still the beautiful city we had fallen in love with years before – ringed by the snow-peaked Andes mountains. Tomorrow we will travel to the coast to board the cruise ship. Monday we dock in Coquimbo (La Serena) Chile and explore!
