Who loves the holidays and revels in its festivities?  If you also enjoy travel, why not combine the two and  have a different, yet wonderful vacation?  Within the travel industry, November through early January is referred to as the Festive Season.  Despite being outside of normal travel season, it is enormously popular and prices are the lowest you’ll see in the year.  Let’s take

Lapland, Finland is definitely a contender!  According to the United Nations assessment for seven years in a row, Finland is the happiest country in the world!  Lapland is an especially magical place during the holidays. Famous for its Arctic Wilderness it has a lot to offer!  One of its popular offerings is in Tromso, perhaps one of the best places in the country!  You can see the Northern Lights here from late September through March-take advantage of it! There is so much, however, including glass igloos, both reindeer and husky sledding. Another fabulous experience is taking a short cruise from Tromso, generally 3-4 hours but longer cruises are also available.  Enjoy the Arctic landscapes and wildlife.

Travel to Rovaniemi (located right on the Arctic Circle) to see Santa Village.  Rovaiemi is beautiful during the holidays with its decorations and twinkling lights!  There are plenty of handcrafts available and you will enjoy the browsing!

Lapland is only one of the locations that make good holiday visits to London, Japan and the Caribbean wonderful as well. I will write about them in future posts!
