I love trains, do you? I love all types of trains from basic to luxurious. I have ridden both and have to say that for the money Amtrak is the best. It is not luxurious – there is nothing upscale or elevated about this carrier. They do, however, provide a good service at a reasonable price. In addition, they are all over the US and have some wonderful established routes that are outstandingly beautiful! If you love Amtrak but would like a bit more in the amenities department, here is something that will interest you!
Amtrak Airo Trainsets are debuting this year! The first one has now arrived in Seattle for final testing on the Amtrak Cascades track. By the end of ‘26 you should be able to ride the rails! There are a number of other trains that will debut later in the year. The Cascades trek runs from Vancouver British Columbia through Seattle and Portland ending in Eugene, Oregon. In the future there will be more routes in both the east and west including the Vermonter, the Northeast Regional and the Palmetto. Many other routes will also be available in the near future.
What is different about the Airo Trainset? They are totally updated with new dining choices and much larger windows. They will hold around 330 passengers and have an updated business class. Prices are quite reasonable – after all this IS Amtrak! A coach seat from Seattle to Portland will be around $29.00. For longer routes or business class you will pay over $100.00.
