Arctic Adventure in Greenland

Are you a “coolcation” traveler?   An increasing number of tourists are heading for polar areas all year around.  The Arctic area is the northernmost of the five major circles of latitude. Yes, you may go look that up!    Adventurers who visit this area often say  of it  unlike anything they have seen before.  Today I am going to share information on Greenland.

One of the most well-known attractions in the country is the Arctic Circle Trail.  This 103 mile trail offers a hike that is a bit different than many other treks.  In fact, it is one of the most isolated places on earth.  You will see ancient lakes as well as Arctic animals.  The trail itself is quite narrow and there are jagged mountains.  Although there are huts scattered along the trail, they are first-come first served.  You are quite far from civilization so  make sure you bring everything you will need.

If you are looking for something a bit less isolated, remember that 80% of the country is within the Arctic Circle and there are other places to explore!  Consider visiting Sisimiut or Maniitsoq , both of which are located close to the capital city of Nuuk.  This area is known as “Destination Arctic Circle”  and you will have the opportunity to enjoy hiking, fishing, kayaking and more.

Have you been to Greenland or planning a trip to? If so, drop me a line and tell me about it!
