We loved Scotland and enjoyed every minute there! I wish we had been there longer to see more of the country, however. We spent a lot of time around Edinburg, a wonderful city. On our next visit, we plan to spend more time in rural Scotland.
Inverness, in the Scottish highlands, would be a great place to use as a home base when viewing the surrounding mountains. This location is for nature lovers who enjoy a bit of exercise as well. Go hiking or cycling, visit castles, go see Loch Ness. Of course you will want to spend some time in the town itself! In the year ahead, the city will unveil “The Inverness Castle Experience” with music, history, regional cuisine, gardens and stunning views. While it was scheduled to open in late 2025, it doesn’t appear to be open as of this date. Stay tuned! More golf is coming too!
From Inverness, you can take a train to the Flow Country. In July ’24, it was added to UNESCO’S World Heritage list. At more than 700 square miles, the massive bogs and peatland are the largest in the world. It is a unique and beautiful area, filled with birds and wildlife.
Take this distinctive area of Scotland at a relaxing pace. There is a lot to see and discover-take your time and enjoy it!
Enjoyed the article very much. Thank you for sharing your experiences in Scotland and providing me with information that I did not know.
