I recently read an article about beautiful US lakes that nobody should miss. I have seen three of those mentioned: Lake Michigan, Lake Champlain and Lake Superior. I enjoyed my visit to all three.
There is one lake mentioned that I very badly want to visit and am tentatively making plans to do so. Crater Lake,a volcanic lake located in south-central Oregon, will close in 2026 so that the Cleetwood Cove Trail, the only legal access to it, can undergo renovations and repairs. Since my husband and I will be in Oregon in September, we have it on our agenda.
Crater Lake, part of Crater Lake National Park, is the deepest lake in the country with an average depth of 1943 feet. Although it is not known for swimming, it is reputed to have fantastic hiking, as well as camping and birding. The entire National Park area is also known for Toketee Falls, Wizard Island, and Annie Creek Canyon.
If you have been there, please drop a note about your experience below. I would love to hear about it!
Glacier Lake National Park is really nice. Crystal clear water. When you see Crater lake though, you will be glad you did.
Thanks, Lin. We do look forward to seeing it!
