There is nothing quite as relaxing as a long weekend away from home. With labor day drawing closer it is a great time to start thinking about a long, relaxing 3 or 4 day trip. With that in mind, let’s take a look at two such destinations-one on each coast!
Healdsburg, California – Our west coast offering is where you want to be in Sonoma County! Make it your base when you want to explore wine country and you will be glad you did! Unpretentious, with a low-key, friendly vibe, it is exactly the place for a laid back long weekend! Ok, it is not Napa, but it is cool….and uncrowded! Surrounded by hills, vineyards and the Russian River, it is stunning and made for biking and walking! Wine-tastings, small-town charm, great weather are just part of what you will love here. There are top rated restaurants and a wide variety of lodging.
Amelia Island, Florida – This is a barrier island located close to Jacksonville, Florida and the Georgia border. Beautiful streets lined with Spanish moss covered live oaks and then there is the lovely beach! There is a lot of history here, folks! It was a one-time hide out of Blackbeard! This quintessentially southern town has plenty of African-American history as well-the home of some of the first African American millionaires, in fact! In addition to swimming and admiring the scenery, you can also take a cruise in the waters around the island or rent a jet-ski! At the end of each day, relax in your hotel or BnB–there are quite a variety of accommodations to choose from!
Relax! You deserve it!

Thanks, James!
Both the east coast and the west coast sound great.
Living on the east coast, it would be a short hop to Amelia Island.
It sounds beautiful.
Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely research further.
Thanks again,
Lee
