Three Beautiful Southern Towns!

St. Augustine, Florida, USA town square.

I grew up in the South and regardless of where I travel my heart stays here!  It doesn’t hurt that we have some of the most beautiful towns in the country.  Here are three of my personal favorites that are both lovely and interesting!

Gatlinburg, Tennessee – Located in the mountains of eastern Tennessee, this stunning town is often referred to as the gateway of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Full of natural beauty, this green borough will never fail to please.  Surrounded by hiking trails, waterfalls, dense forests, it also has wonderful restaurants to satisfy you after a day of hiking!  It is also just a short drive to Dollywood!

Beaufort, South Carolina – Situated on Port Royal Island, this small city is known for its antebellum mansions.  Wander through its streets lined by ancient trees draped in Spanish Moss.  Check out its historic district and be sure not to miss the beaches and nearby towns and islands!

St Augustine, Florida – The nation’s oldest city, St Augustine is known for Spanish colonial architecture and cobblestone streets.  Fantastic beaches, great museums and parks, 17th century fortresses, and a great trolley!  There is always something fun and new to do here!

In the near future, I will be spotlighting cities from other parts of the country. Stay tuned!

  1. Beaufort, SC is a great city to visit anytime. We enjoyed it as well as St Augustine. They are quite different from each other but we liked them both.
