Hints To Find Cheaper Flights!

There are a number of ways to get a cheaper flight.  Some are well-known while others generally are not.  Let’s take a look at a few!

One of the most established ways to get a cheaper flight is to avoid flying to destinations during their peak travel periods.  For example, flights to Europe are more expensive in June, July, August and December (leading up to Christmas).  The Caribbean, in contrast, is usually cheaper in the summer and more expensive during cold weather and “spring break” (December through April)

Flights are nearly always less expensive when booked at least three weeks out.  At around the 21 day mark, the prices rise.

You should always check one-way flight prices in addition to the round-trip rate.  It’s sometimes possible to piece together two separate one way flights from different carriers, and come out with savings-at times rather spectacular ones.

Google Flights, in addition to providing handy comparisons, also has a feature that will send you an email if the prices drop on your specified routes.

Perhaps the most controversial (but VERY effective) way to lessen flight costs is through “hidden city” bookings.  For example, if you want to travel from Atlanta to Denver, you may save money by booking a flight that has Denver as a layover-and you will simply get off there!  This is often cheaper than a direct flight.    Do be aware that the airlines generally prohibit this practice so if you do it frequently, you may be caught. Of course, this does limit you  a carry-on bag.  If this interests you check out the website Skiplagged www.skiplagged.com for a complete explanation as well as listings you may well be interested in!
