Labor Day is often viewed as the demarcation point that officially ends summer travel. That is far from the truth, however. Most of our country will continue to see hot weather for another month or two. Therefore, any type of trip can be a good one. How about the great outdoors?
I love Colorado! You can stay in Denver and enjoy all the amenities of a great city and still have a glorious, outdoorsy adventure! Located 30 minutes away is Mt. Galbraith Park. Located in Golden, you can take the 2.6 mile Cedar Gulch Rt. If you like , you can add on the 1.8 mile loop at the top of the 7260 foot peak. Or go to nearby Boulder, where the Chautauqua Park and Cultural Center is a local favorite. Hike for a view of the Flatirons which ends in an arched rock formation . Although there are numerous trails, the most direct is a 3.4 mile trip.
Not in the mood for hiking? You can wander around Denver or Boulder, visit museums and shops, engage with the locals and just enjoy yourself. End the day with a good meal and maybe some music as well. Flights to Denver are currently quite reasonable and lodging prices are not bad either.
There are many great places for a Labor Day vacation. Stay tuned! More suggestions coming up for wonderful domestic (and a few foreign!) trips!
