Atlanta!

Atlanta

Atlanta is a great city, y’all!  Despite the fact that I have been going there since I was a child (I have relatives there) I have never written about the city.   I am going to correct that right now! There is so much history in Atlanta!  It was burned to the ground during the Civil War and  moved on to play a part in the Civil Rights movement.  Check out the Center for Civil and Human Rights located smack in the middle of downtown.  It has an interesting walk through exhibit which begins in the 1950’s and moves forward with a focus on Jim Crow and racism in general.

There is an outstanding Botanical Garden located in Midtown where you’ll want to make sure to check the Orchid House.  In fact, take the time to ramble through the various themed gardens!  The Georgia Aquarium, the largest indoor aquarium  in the western hemisphere, is a treat for the entire family.  You can happily spend hours wandering through it.  Two other places of interest are the Atlanta History Center and the High Museum of Art.

Oh–and if you happen to be a lover of good food, you will adore this city!
