I love Alaska and I swear this is the last post on it for a bit! This is an excerpt from my February ‘25 travel email..
Adventurers love Alaska and in some sense we are all adventurers ; we just have different styles. Some of us love hiking up a mountain and others prefer gazing from our glass-domed train as it leisurely passes over the mountain and through the small villages. It is also fine to enjoy both! Nearly everyone will find something to love about this state.
Cruising is still a great way to see coastal Alaska but other forms of travel are also becoming popular. Alaska Railroads has excellent journeys and with their glass domes you will enjoy every moment. There are also wonderful land tours which you can enjoy with a tour leader and other travelers. If you’re fit, knowledgeable and alert, get a tent and strike off!
Peak travel season is June through August as you will enjoy both the pleasant temperatures (60’s -70’s) and the white nights. Autumn is also wonderful – the prices are lower, the crowds smaller but you can still participate in many summer activities. Occasionally, you will see the Northern Lights! If you are in or around Denali, you will see the type of fall color we generally associate with New England!
