Do you want to cruise more often? If so, you are like millions of others who enjoy their holidays and vacations sailing the seas! While cruising has always been in demand, its popularity increases each year. In fact studies suggest that by 2028 nearly 42 million passengers will sail the oceans annually. This constitutes an increase of more than 10 million from the 2023 figures. As I mentioned in an earlier post, cruises are enjoyable in and of themselves -but why not enhance them? Exploring one of the cruise ports (before or after) is one of the best ways to elevate your trip! I have discussed land explorations in Chile, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. Today, let’s jump to the other side of the world and look at Oslo, Norway.
Many northern European and Norwegian fjord cruises find a natural extension in Oslo. As both the capital and largest city of Norway it provides a more quiet, polished experience than other European capitals. Despite being the economic and governmental center of the country it nonetheless feels unhurried and close to nature. Try kayaking down Oslofjord or take a three hour boat ride, complete with a buffet meal!
Do you love art? If so, Oslo is the perfect destination for you! Try the National Museum of Art just completed in 2003. It has some of the biggest names in art including Picasso, Gauguin and Matisse. Take a look at the Munch Museum which exhibits over half of Munch’s work. Cultural experiences abound in this city!
Take a stroll down Karl Johan, the main shopping street in the city. It ends at the Royal Palace and in the winter is decked out for Christmas! Everyplace in this city is an adventure waiting to be discovered! Give it a try!
This caught my eye-Thanks.
