I don’t know about other folks but personally I am freezing and tired of it! We cannot change the weather, of course but we CAN dream about warmer weather – and FLOWERS! To me they are one of the most anticipated signs of Spring. Actually, it is not that much longer in some locations. Here are two US cities to consider:
Charleston, SC- I love this city and have written about it before. One post is a general description of the city and one is about their fabulous cuisine! Now let’s talk about the flora! Magnolias! This quintessential southern flower is native to Charleston and you can see them everywhere April – June. Visiting a bit earlier in the season, perhaps February or March? Look around you and pay close attention to catch an early glimpse. In the spring they are simply everywhere and their light scent fills the air. Visit Magnolia Plantation, which celebrates the flower and allows it to grow wild. Oh, while you are in Charleston make sure you sample the food!
Holland, Michigan – This appropriately named city is all about tulips! Since the city plants more than 6 million bulbs in the area it is no wonder the flowers pop up everywhere you look in the spring. The locals are proud of this display and hold the Tulip Time Festival every May. This year the dates are May 1 through the 10th. Take a long weekend and take a stroll through downtown – you will see every imaginable color and variety of tulips. You can also consider visiting the Windmill Island Gardens and the Veldheer Garden. The Tulip festival has been around since 1929 and the residents are quite proud of it. It has a carnival atmosphere, a parade, and fireworks.
It won’t be long now, folks! Get your motor running!
Your tired of winter? Join the club. Such beautiful flower pictures. Check out the rose garden in Newark NY when you have a chance, spring should arrive by June first. Meanwhile stay warm, eat healthy and let your love light shine.
I’ll so my best! Thanks for commenting!
This is one of my favorites. I find your other posts very interesting as well.
