To some, the Caribbean means the Bahamas. Known for its bright blue waters, pink and white sand beaches and island vibe, it is a stunning escape for divers and hikers as well as families, couples and friend groups of all types. There are caves to explore , blue holes to dive into. Throughout the islands there is a wonderful food scene that blends Caribbean and international flavors. Lots of fresh seafood of course and plenty of waterfront dining.
Let’s take a look at some of these places:
Elbow Cay
If you are looking for British architecture, this is where you should come! Hope Town stands out with its lighthouse and brightly colored cottages. It is also a yachting center and is happily blessed with car-free streets and attractive inns. The entire town is full of pastel clapboard cottages. Many visitors here spend time snorkeling, fishing and exploring. The clear water and stunning beaches insure that your time will be well spent!
Lucayan National Park
Named for the inhabitants indigenous to the area, today it is populated by raccoons and birds. This island is a great place for bird-watching or exploring the many trails. Check out the beach as well. If you are interested in underwater caves, make sure to visit this Bahamian site. Located on Grand Bahama, you can fly directly there from Miami, Ft Lauderdale and several other American cities. While there, take advantage of the fantastic kayaking experiences offered by Grand Bahama Nature Tours.
Blue Holes National Park
Located in Andros, the largest island in the Bahama, these blue holes are distributed across the island among the reefs and mangroves. They are actually sink holes and there are more of them here than anywhere else on earth. Captain Bill’s Hole is one of the more accessible for swimming. Interested in staying awhile? Small Hope Bay Lodge, set among the mangroves in Andros Town has 21 luxury rooms and offers planned dives and safaris.
I will be discussing other locations in a future post! Stay tuned!
After reviewing the article, I draw some interesting conclusions, and I might write about them on my blog.
Thanks!
