In the Northern Hemisphere, October is associated with cooler temperatures, brightly colored leaves, the ubiquitous pumpkin spice, and Halloween. Yet there are plenty of locations that remain quite warm throughout Autumn. In the US, these places are predominantly in the south and west. There are some great European locations as well. Let’s take a look at one destination from each.
Las Vegas – I love this city and have posted about it before explaining why I believe it to be a perfect vacation spot for singles, couples, and families. It has a lot to offer. Let’s take a look at what makes it especially nice for those seeking an October hot spot. Located smack in the middle of the Mojave Desert, it is definitely hot! After a day visiting the unique and interesting sites, return to the city and enjoy a stroll down the Strip, returning to the casino to hunker down in front of a slot machine. Yep, wear your shorts and a t-shirt, it remains exactly that sort of place!
Sicily – Italy remains at the top of the travel list for Americans. In the fall, Sicily takes center stage. The blistering heat of the Sicilian summer has mellowed; the beaches are quiet and the sea remains warm. Take a vineyard tour or enjoy the unique Sicilian Baroque architecture. This distinct style can be viewed in the Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that also features history dating back to prehistoric times. You are going to love the warmth and slower pace of Sicily in October!
I prefer a break from hot weather by October. I like Las Vegas in January and that preference extends to other locations that are hot.
Well if stay in the casinos and gamble it won’t make a difference!
