Recently, I posted about the California Zephyr, widely considered one of Amtrak’s most beautiful rail journeys. Three of its other exquisite journeys are the Pacific Surfliner, the Empire Builder (which I can personally attest to) and the Coast Starlink- which is yet another contender for our autumn train adventure. Let’s take a look at its route.
This train travels down the Pacific coast, departing daily from Seattle and continuing through Portland, Sacramento and Los Angeles. It also passes through the San Francisco Bay area as well as Santa Barbara and a multitude of other cities. Gorgeous scenery from the peaks of the Cascade Range and on to Mount Shasta. There are long stretches of the Pacific shore as well as forests, valleys and all the alluring topography you would expect on this enchanting tour.
Yes, you can use your rail pass on this 35 hour route- and you should. Personally I can’t wait!
Thank you for your help and this post.
