This remote and spectacular park is located 2 miles north of Seattle at the Canadian Border. We have not been there yet but we certainly plan to be! I have been reading about it and discovered it has over 1000 waterfalls, 500 lakes , and over 300 glaciers. The park is divided into three sections:
-Ross Lake Recreational Center- As the least secluded area, it features paddleboarding, boat tours, horseback riding and more
-North Cascade National Park- Trails and more trails along with an abundance of wild animal species.
-Chelan Lake National Recreation Area – Located in this area is the village of Stehekin, which sits at the head of the lake. This isolated area is accessible only by foot, boat or plane. The small town has no cell service.
This National Park is open seasonally from May to October. At other times the highway leading to the park is closed. If you are planning a visit, consider staying at the Ross Lake Resort, also open seasonably and located on Ross Lake. With 15 floating cabins over the water and fantastic lake views, this resort is in high demand!
Have you been to North Cascades National Park? If so, I would love to hear about your experience!
