About those flights….

What airlines have the highest passenger satisfaction for both able-bodied and disabled flyers?   Conde Nast Traveler recently reported on the results of satisfaction surveys.  Oddly, while satisfaction increased for basic economy, premium economy showed a decline. Let’s take a brief look!

-For the fourth year in a row, Southwest had the highest scores for economy flights.  Disabled passengers also rate Southwest highly, though slightly behind Delta  Southwest will take care of both manual and battery powered wheelchairs during flights. Southwest however, has made recent changes to its free checked luggage police as well as introducing a new fare structure.  These are generally unpopular and may well change future scores.

-Jet Blue is second in economy flights which Conde Nast thinks could be attributed to complimentary snacks, live TV and in-flight Wi-Fi.   JetBlue also took first place for its business class.   For its disabled passengers, it maintains a  dedicated website to handle accessibility concerns.

-Delta has the highest scores for premium economy and second place for business class. It is also generally rated as the top airline for disabled passengers.  Their commitment to accessibility extends to training their staff on how to  assist disabled passengers as well as  continuous over- sight on improving their service.

Conde Nast notes that less than 10% of airline passengers had a problem with their flights, despite recent headlines on air travel chaos.  When problems were reported, the most common complaint, across all cabin classes, concerned flight delays.

I will cover disability travel more thoroughly in a future post.
