Following on the UK’s ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), Thailand is now working to digitize their border. Beginning May 1,2025 all foreigners to Thailand must complete a TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) at least 3 days prior to arriving.
Visit Thailand Immigration Bureau’s official website https://tdac.immigration.go.th/manual/en/index.html for the online app that will require personal information such as nationality and citizenship, travel and accommodation plans, as well as health declaration regarding countries visited in the last 2 weeks. The purpose, according to the Thai Immigration Bureau is to “strengthen security measures, streamline immigration procedures and support public health” The TDAC is free of charge and easily completed.
These electronic travel authorizations seem to be a trend. The European Union’s version, ETIAS, is scheduled to go into effect in 2026
