Even disregarding Mardi Gras, New Orleans is a singular experience! Music, food, history, and a love of celebration are all combined in this city! If you love the night life (and even if you don’t!) you need to plan a trip. Great museums, shopping, distinctive architecture, all combine with burlesque and comedy evenings, and MUSIC! New Orleans has a reputation for spookiness and booking a ghost tour could also be time well spent!
Located below sea level, this coastal town deserves a place on every bucket list. Hurricane season is June through November. Don’t be overly cautious as hurricanes never show up unannounced–there will be time to leave should you need it. New Orleans is seriously hot and humid and you should take that into consideration when planning a trip. Peak season is February through May, but January isn’t bad either. To make your trip more enjoyable (and less expensive) book during the shoulder season of October through June. You can also keep down the price by booking in less touristy areas (yes, the French Quarter can be VERY expensive). Since BNBs tend to be less expensive than hotels, make sure you check them first. Finally, avoid holidays and weekends.
Don’t forget–this town is made for celebration and fun. Go and grab some!
