Bryce Canyon National Park

Morning sunlight over the amphitheater at Bryce Canyon viewed from Inspiration Point.

Another really cool site, Bryce Canyon National Park is located in southern Utah.   Known for its crimson spire-shaped rock formations – a series of “bowls” carved into the edge of a plateau, you will want to take enough time to fully explore!  The park has a main road which goes from its only entrance in the north along the plateau rim to the highest elevation in the south.  Explore the forests of the plateau on one of the hiking trails along the rim of Bryce Amphitheatre and wander through the hoodoos (the rock formations).  The best times for viewing are sunup and sundown.

Attend one of the ranger programs to learn more.  In addition to geology talks, they consist of rim walks, full moon hikes and other fun adventures.  You can even take a horseback ride!  Bryce Canyon has two campgrounds and a lodge.  This is a wonderful park for family vacations!
