My husband and I are becoming more and more interested in Latin America. Having been to Chile, and now to Costa Rica, we look forward to more visits in this part of the world. In fact, we have a cruise booked next year with stops at many Latin American countries. For now though, let’s take a look at Costa Rica.
Our first stay was outside of the town of La Fortuna, a small town heavy in hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions. Our hotel was about 10 miles away in a rain forest and it was unbelievably beautiful. One friend I sent a picture to replied that it looked like a different planet. It felt like one as well. The topography was hilly and good shoes were needed to walk the trails in the area. We spent time exploring and saw multiple iguanas and lizards as well as brightly colored birds and insects. We also took a raft down the river, spotting a crocodile, and a “jesus lizard”-so called in Spanish due to their ability to walk on water! The aptly named howler monkeys were all around with their greeting. This float was cut short due to an absolutely torrential thunderstorm. Back in our room, we warmed up in the hot tub.
Part 2 will be out eventually…;-)
