Alaska Railroad

Train in motion through the Chugach National Forest near Portage, Alaska

Alaska is a huge state and not as easily traveled as  most of the lower 49.  This train is all about relaxing and taking in the beautiful vistas. The varied landscape, with mountains and gorges in the north and wilderness and ice in the south, can be viewed easily in this not-built-for -speed train.  It is a 470 mile ride from Seward to Fairbanks.  It would be hard to see both of these cities(easily) in the same trip any other way!

Comfortable, amazing with lots of perks, this  is a remarkable trip.  Glass-domed rail cars guarantee that everybody will have a remarkable view!  It also has onboard dining, bar service and guided commentary.   You’ll have a great time and will be rewarded by seeing parts of Alaska frequently left unseen – the Spence Glacier cascading down the mountain for instance.  Now that is something you don’t see every day!
