Turks and Caicos

Aerial view of Grand Turk island

Turks and Caicos are a group of low lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean located between the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. The country is a British Territory and English is the national language. Known for its beautiful beaches and luxury lifestyle, the main island of Providenciales is the location of Grace Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Luxurious resorts and shops abound, as do scuba-diving sites including a 14 mile barrier reef. While expensive to visit, if you avoid the high season (winter) you will find it more reasonable. Unfortunately, the low season of June through November is also Hurricane Season in the Caribbean and should be avoided as well. The sweet spot is April and May.
